About the Author
Rick Elice saw his first Broadway show when he was three. His mother said he was very well behaved. That night he dreamed of working in the theater. And since the age of nineteen he has. Along with Marshall Brickman he wrote Jersey Boys which won the Tony, Grammy, and Olivier awards for Best Musical. Other musicals include Turn of the Century and The Addams Family. He has a BA from Cornell, an MFA from the Yale School of Drama, and was a teach fellow at Harvard while a charter member of the American Repertory Theater. He lives in New York City.

Absolutely delightful!

Incredibly funny! Having just seen the stage edition, I was anxious to read some of the words I didn't hear well (old ears, here...rather no hear)
The story is wonderful, imaginative, fast moving, and delightful. If you liked Peter Pan either as a child or an adult, you'd love this play.!

I like this play because it has humor and it has a good story line. It was hard to understand at first, but after looking it over again, I understood it and liked it. I liked the part of the flying cat. I thought it was very funny how Captain Hook came to be named.
You can’t go wrong with pirates, mermaids, crocodiles, and starstuff.

A must read!!!

This book lays out the truth. I bought this book and it shed light on what has happened to our society today. All these rap music our children listens to conjurs up demon spirits over there lives. I bought this for my son and 5 of his friends and each of them thanked me for it and said it has changed their speaking and thoughts and that they too let another friend or family member read it and 2 of them joined our faith group as well as our church.

Kenneth Scott has produced some really good spiritual books, but this one fell way short of the others. This book seemed underdeveloped, released before it was finished. I purchased it looking for some tools to use as all his other books provide, but was sorely dispappointed.

At conclusion, I thought Scott's reasonings on each subject matter unfounded and far fetched. He did not prove one word of what he was writing. No scriptures to support his supposition or hypothesis as evidence nor historical references or definitions.

Insightful, Informative and Approachable

First, I must confess that I'm an oceanographer, not a policy expert. So my review is from the point of view of an informed and interested reader, not an expert in the field of environmental management. I took an Envirnmental Management and Policy graduate class from Andrews, and notes for the book formed the basis of the class reading.

The point of view of the book, following from the historical context of European colonialization to the modern enforcement of laws based upon primarily English and Spanish precedents, allows for an in depth understanding of how and why environmental policies are debated and put into practice. Due to it's focus on historical precedence, the reader is lead to understand why and how policy decisions are made today.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who is frustrated (either pro or con) by our current environmental policies. You will gain a wealth of insight into how and why environmental management polices are enacted. You may not like the current environmental policies, but this book will help you understand why our system works the ways it does.

Practical Intro to the Development of Concentration

Shamatha meditation, a Tibetan name for all meditations that settle, focus, and concentrate the mind, is not unique to Buddhism. In fact in many ways part of Buddhism's fresh approach is that it took this particular kind of meditation and in a sense "secularized" it - essentially removing some of the religious symbolism and esoterism that surrounded the development of concentration in India. Shamatha meditation is unique in that it's "contentless" and provides the foundation for all other religious practices.

Nuts and Bolts Guide to "Calm Abiding" Meditation

This is the most clear, to the point, methodical guide to shamatha meditation I've read. The type of meditation discussed in this book is referred to as calm abiding, meditative quiescence, or shamatha. It involves the elimination of discursive thought within the mind and the related process of developing the ability to focus on an object without distraction. The most common object for beginning meditators is the breath. This text is collected from a few of Gen Lamrimpa's oral instructions, but the presentation is very traditional and easy to follow. This is definitely a book I'll come back to again and again to clarify certain points or to improve my meditation practice. Highly recommended.

So much fluffy stuff has been written about meditation in recent years that it can sometimes be difficult to even know what the word means. This book, through clear language and concise instruction, blows any fuzziness about what meditation is, how to do it, and what to expect from the practice competely away.

Based on a series of instructional lectures and Q&A sessions at a meditation retreat, Calming the Mind is one of the best manuals that a student of Buddhist (or any other spiritual tradition) meditation is likely to find. The lama's straight forward descriptions remove some of the mystification that seems endemic to some other instructional works without oversimplifying what is called for.

Highly recommended for any serious student of internal spiritual development.

Best job seeking book ever

The book is comprehensive, works with real life examples and is a FANTASTIC book especially if you have not been job hopping and thus have not interviewed or hunted for a job in a long time.

It takes you from writing your CV and the cover letter, through the most appropriate colour schemes to wear for the interviews all the way to the end on follow-up after the interviews and turning a possible defeat into a victory.

My husband, quite a few of our friends and I have used this book with great success to snare the jobs we wanted.

If you have been out of the running for a while or if you have even wanted a comprehensive guide to interviewing this is your book.

As with every guide you have to not just read it but practice and make the ideas your own. This is not a recipe book it is a guide. So ensure you read it with that in mind and know that authenticity in interviews/communication come from practicing the concepts and making the content your own so you can deliver something that has a unique twist to you.

This is not for the lazy or the feint hearted, but for the go getter and the self motivator.

Bilal’s classmates are crossing over into the Pakistan-administered portion of Kashmir to be trained to resist the ‘occupation’; Papa and Bilal are regularly taken by the military to identification parades where informers will point out ‘terrorists’; Munnu’s school is closed; close neighbours are killed and the homes of Kashmiri Hindu families lie abandoned, as once close, mixed communities have ruptured under the pressure of Kashmir’s divisions.

Munnu is an amazingly personal insight into everyday life in Kashmir. Beautifully told story of Kashmir and the price that citizens pay for a conflict that they have no control of...I'd recommend this book to everybody who is even remotely interested in knowing about Kashmir... This is a fresh perspective and you can't help rooting for Munnu who is as real as the author himself.

Cover to cover, an extremely enlightening book

If you plan to build a wooden boat for the first time, this book is just what you need. When I embarked on my first boatbuilding project armed with my hobbyist's furniture building skills and a set of boat plans, I nearly gave up in frusteration. After reading this book, everything makes so much more sense. He explains the terminology, the woods, the tools, the glues, and all the little pitfalls you will encounter along the way. My boat is now well underway and it would probably still be couple sheets of paper nailed to the wall of my garage if it weren't for "Building Small Boats."

A Unique Perspective

Like Mother, Like Daughter is the first in a series of episodic books which enhance the storyline of each show. After reading this book, one comes away with more information and insight into the characters, vis a vis what led up to a specific scene and, more importantly, a subjective view of Rory's character and her perspective in any given situation. I applaud the writers for publishing these books! The unique relationship between mother and daughter is fully explored, giving the viewer of the show more insight into the their lives. I would love to see a book written from Lorelai's perspective. What cannot be played out on the show because of time restraints, is wonderfully written in this book as well as "I Love You, You Idiot." I highly recommend fans to read these series of books. They fill in the blanks and replay the dialogue, which enriches the show and its characters. Brava!

Amazing! Gilmore Girls is a Winner!

You cannot go wrong with getting this book... Gilmore Girls is an irresistible, humorous, incredible story of a mother and daughter's lives in a small town. Lorelei Gilmore is a young, hip mom, Rory is her very intelligent, fun daughter, and the quick, comedic quips in their conversations alone is the reason to read this novel. In the book, Lorelei works to get Rory into a special private school, and even has to ask her estranged parents for tuition. Wonderful book!Watch the TV show on WB 20, Tuesdays @ 8pm. This book is based on the first episode in the 1st season-- First season reruns will be running next season on Sunday evenings... Lauren Graham and Alexis Blendel play the two actresses... They are exceptional, talented actresses-- Romance, Comedy, Drama-- This show has it all!

Great, Funny, Very great if u haven't seen the shows

This is a very funny book it basically covers Rory's opinion about the events b/n the first episode to "Forgiveness & Stuff." Since it is Rory's point-of-view the events that happen w/Lorelai and not Rory are not told to you in the book unless Lorelai tells you, then Rory tells you. Plus it tells you what Rory is thinking- which adds some hilarity [and sadness.] The book does leave out some parts e.g. the "Kill Me Now" episode. The book is great if you are a Gilmore Girls fan .. then get it @ the store. But if you have seen all the early episodes and aren't a "every week" fan because it just repeats episodes you have already seen- so get it @ the library but still read it. If you haven't seen these episodes get it & read it!!!! Take my advice this book is like Gilmore Girls to go, you can carry the episodes nearlly everywhere!!!!!!

As a non-native English speaker I found the book as extremely useful. It's structured well to address specific topics of interest and is written in a clear, sharp, and actionable way.

Specifically the book helped me recently (Chapter 8 - focused on business documents) when I had to prepare a grant proposal. It was the first time that I created such a document and I wanted to write it in a way that it will not only present facts, milestones and a budget.
